Larger than AA or C Cell Batteries means they naturally have greater energy storage capacity. Typically, D Cell Batteries have 1.5 volts for non rechargeable and rechargeable versions often have around 1.2 volts. Usually, D Cell batteries are alkaline with a long shelf life and are used for large torches, portable radios, camping lanterns or toys, and other gadgets.
