A Brief History of Energizer

Today, Energizer is the world’s largest manufacturer of batteries with their headquarters based in Missouri, USA. They began in 1896, as the American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing company before changing names. In total, they have six operational facilities in the US and a manufacturing facility in Singapore which opened in 1946 to support production in the Asian and Oceania markets.

Energizer is known for creating the first consumer battery in 1896 and the first handheld pocket torch a few years later. By 1957, they had invented the first alkaline consumer battery and by 1958, the world’s first rechargeable battery system. Fast forward to 1992, and Energizer introduced the first AA lithium battery - a staple for every household and business around the world today.

Proud of their long history of innovation, Energizer now operates in over 160 countries worldwide and continues to be a trusted, household name around the world.
