More Information About The Cheeky Panda

The Cheeky Panda began in 2016 by Julie Chen and Chris Forbes, a husband and wife duo from London. The idea to start the company began from a trip to South East Asia where the couple saw vast amounts of Bamboo being wasted. They then wondered whether bamboo could be used as a sustainable replacement for wood pulp, and The Cheeky Panda brand was then born in its infancy. Their first product was bamboo toilet paper, followed by facial tissues, kitchen roll, baby wipes and then beauty products.

The Cheeky Panda now sells their sustainable personal care items in over 25 countries around the world, and has subsidiaries in France, the USA and China. It became a certified B Corp in 2019 and in 2025, achieved the Gold Ecovadis Award - reflecting its commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. During the Covid 19 pandemic, demand for their products soared and they managed to ship 200 containers a month to meet market needs! Today they remain a top choice for businesses, workplaces and individuals looking to make a difference in the world and be kind to their skin.

Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is fast growing and grows back at an alarming rate. However, when you cut down a tree, it's gone for good. Cutting down Bamboo is different as it bounces back at lightening speed. Bamboo grows 30x faster than trees, meaning no deforestation or soil erosion. Bamboo also doesn't need irrigation, just natural rainwater without needing pesticides or fertilizers. Bamboo thrives on it's own, keeping chemicals out of the equation. As well as being more sustainable, Bamboo is also kinder to sensitive skin - a win for both people and the planet!
