Worn together, safety eyewear and respirators often reduce each others effectiveness because eyewear frames compromise the seal of the respirator and lead to lens misting and reduced respiratory protection. FilterSpec combines both protective devices into an integrated unit, allowing them to work harmoniously to provide optimum wearer comfort and protection. In many day to day tasks flying particles can be generated and in almost all work environments eye protection is needed, but it is also mandatory in many areas. Eye injuries can translate into pain, loss of time, money and potential eyesight. From wood and paint chips to dirt, concrete particles and even nails, a workers eyes are constantly and most often at risk from impact hazards. Eye protection provision and wearing is a requirement under the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations, and the need for this can be seen from the figures for accidents reported to the HSE during 2006/7, 2309 instances of workers seeing doctors as result of work related injuries were reported and in 115 of these cases the worker lost the sight of at least one eye.The respirators have been developed for particular working environments, integrating features like activated carbon layer offering relief from nuisance odours below TLV (Threshold Limit Value), the work place exposure limit.
