Foil blankets, or emergency blankets as they are also known, are used to prevent heat loss and protect a person from the elements after injury. They are often included in first aid kits, but not always. The design of foil blankets reflects the body heat back towards the wearer, helping to stabilise temperatures in emergency situations when someone is cold, in shock, or exposed to harsh weather. Foil blankets are most commonly used to prevent and treat hypothermia, support casualties in shock or even for post exercise cooling control.

Often made from metallised polyester film, foil blankets reflect a high percentage of body heat while remaining lightweight and compact. This makes them ideal to have alongside your first aid kit, emergency bags, vehicles and for use in outdoor activities.
