Starbucks Coffee

Starbucks is one of the most recognisable coffee brands, giving a premium coffee experience and consistent quality you can trust. Starbucks is a leader in ethical coffee sourcing and sustainability, as well as being a pioneer in customisation, blending craft, comfort and convenience.

Premium coffee, consistent quality. Starbucks Coffee began back in Seattle, founded by three partners in 1971: Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker. Originally, they were selling whole beans, teas and spices, inspired by the European coffee traditions. When director Howard Schultz joined, he was inspired by the idea of the espresso bar experience, a place where community and coffee culture meet. When Schultz acquired Starbucks, he began transforming it into the café focused brand we know and love today.

Starbucks Coffee exploded across the United States in the 1990s and became synonymous with quality, customisable drinks and creating a premium café environment. This decade also saw the introduction of a now iconic item on the menu, Frappuccino's. Today, Starbucks Coffee is enjoyed across the world, and the brand is continuing to focus on reducing waste and carbon footprint, expanding plant based options and reinventing store formats to include drive thru and pick up options.

  1. Quality Starbucks sources Arabica beans from Latin America, Africa and the Asia Pacific and has direct relationships with farmers to ensure traceability. Alongside this, Starbucks emphasises their commitment to quality by creating hand crafted, consistent beverages made to order, meaning a latte tastes the same whether you’re in London or Tokyo.
  2. Community Since the early days, Starbucks have championed the idea of the third place, a communal space that sits between home and work, designed so people can take some time to slow down, connect and exist without pressure. Every Starbucks store has comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere, making them community pillars.
  3. Sustainability Starbucks proudly have farmer support centres located in key coffee growing regions which offer agronomy training and soil analysis. They are also developing climate-resistant coffee varieties and distributing millions of disease-resistant coffee trees to farmers. Starbucks is also shifting away from plastic straws and accessories and reducing single use plastic.
  4. Innovation Starbucks is known throughout the world for creating drinks that become cultural moments, such as the Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Seasonal drinks, cold beverage innovation and plant based expansion demonstrates the brands commitment to beverage innovation and flavour leadership. Starbucks doesn’t just follow trends, but creates them.
  5. Personalisation A core part of Starbucks is personalisation woven into every drink, the service and even the brand’s identity. Starbucks ' personalisation is about giving customers a sense of ownership, meaning you can have your drink, your way. In-store, you can choose your milk, syrups, temperature and everything else. It’s a personal experience.
