Unlocking the power of food to enhance the quality of life for everyone. This has been Nestlé's mission since the groundwork for the company was laid by Henry Nestlé and the Page brothers in 1866. Back in the nineteenth century Nestlé aimed to enhance the quality of life for everyone and did this by making nutrition accessible and affordable for all. First of all, Nestlé started producing condensed milk in 1866 and the cereal Farine Lactée. It would later go on to expand rapidly, with Nescafé founded in 1938 and Maggi joining the family by 1947.

Nestlé is known today for its sheer range of confectionery, coffee, drinks, and everyday household items. But they have always been pioneers in the industry, as they created the breakthrough Nespresso pod coffee system in 1986, which would go on to change the future of premium coffee. Nestlé didn’t start selling chocolate until 1904 but had played a vital role in the development of milk chocolate beforehand. In 1875, Henri Nestlé supplied his Vevey neighbour, Daniel Peter, with some condensed milk which was then used to develop the world’s first commercial hot chocolate. In 1929, Peter Callier, Kohler, merged with Nestlé Group to become one of the world’s largest chocolate manufacturers. Today, Nestlé has around 277,000 employees, owns more than 2,000 brands and has a presence in more than 185 countries.
