Helix

Helix have been on a mission to empower every child to change the world with their own hands. With a vast range of educational stationery, they are the number one choice for schools and educational institutions nationwide.

Helix have been making educational stationery to change the world since 1887. Originally, they were established as the Universal Woodworking Company in Lye, Dudley. Their original product was wooden rulers, which later expanded into the stationery and mathematical equipment sets that are loved by students today. In 1912, they released their first mathematical set, and in 1935, the Helix Oxford brand was born. Fast forward to 2012, Helix was then acquired by the French company, Maped.

Helix stationery continues to be a popular choice for schools around the world as they continue to manufacture their classic Helix and Oxford ranges, alongside bright and innovative creations from Maped Helix. Exporting to over 65 countries around the world, Helix continues to be one of the most recognisable stationery brands across the world. With offices in Hong Kong, the US, and the West Midlands, it has a truly global reach. Helix wants to inspire every child across the world to benefit from education, and this is reflected in their affordable, sustainable and long lasting stationery products, which inspire learning every step of the way.

More About Helix

More Information About Helix

First established in 1887 under the company name ‘The Universal Woodworking Company Ltd’, Helix began making wooden rulers and metal laboratory apparatus. In 1894, it patented the drawing compass, and this helped launch the brand. Following on from this success, in 1912, the first mathematical set was created. In 1935, Helix Oxford was launched and began to feature prominently in schools and institutions across the country. In 1955, the company was renamed the Helix Universal Company and moved its headquarters to Lye in the West Midlands.

The company was then bought by the French Maped Group in 2012, whereby the trading name permanently changed to Maped Helix. The Oxford Mathematical Instrument Set is one of the most iconic classroom favourites, used by countless generations of children in maths and geometry lessons. This set is still marketed in over 100 countries across the world by Helix.
