More About birchalls tea

More Information About Birchall Tea

The history of Birchall Tea begins with Captain Birchall Graham, a British officer who was stationed in India with the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. After several years of service, he fell in love with the country and returned in 1872 to plant the first tea bushes in Darjeeling. His early plantations laid the foundation for the family’s long run expertise. Birchall then evolved into one of the largest exporters of black tea from East Africa, sourcing much of the tea from the Mombasa Tea Auction in Kenya.

Their commitment to quality is also unmatched. Birchall’s approach to tea tasting is rigorous, as it can take up to five years (or a million cups!) to train a tea taster. Tea tasting mastery ensures Birchall’s commitment to consistency and flavour precision. Today, Birchall is still known for their flavour and strong sustainability credentials, which have helped secure partnerships in multiple industries, such as being the tea served on every British Airways flight.
