A legacy of handwriting. A staple for most UK classrooms and offices, Berol pens are still widely used, despite being founded 169 years ago. Loved for their versatility, washable ink and slim barrels which are ideal for children and those learning how to write for the very first time, Berol remains one of the most popular pen brands around. Despite enjoying somewhat of an icon status in the UK, Berol pens were actually founded in New York City in 1856 by Daniel Berolzheimer. They eventually expanded into London by 1894, and the rest is history.

Effortlessly ergonomic for young hands, free from nasties, and naturally low odour means they are classroom favourites and loved by students and teachers alike. Berol pens are also widely used in offices and businesses, for those who love a smooth and comfortable writing experience for daily tasks. We have a huge variety of Berol pens available to order online, at affordable prices you won’t want to miss.

More About Berol

More Information About Berol Pens

It’s hard to imagine a school cupboard without a pot of Berol pens. What’s even harder to imagine is that Berol pens began way back in 1856, by Daniel Berolzheimer in New York City. Eventually, Berol pens came to the UK in 1894 and would later go on to open a factory in Tottenham in 1907.

During World War 2, the factory pivoted to producing secret military equipment. In the post war period, the company recovered, and by 1969, they had changed their company name to Berol, adopting a short version of their founder's surname. During the twentieth century, Berol became known and loved for its wide range of writing instruments and art materials in schools and offices.

By 1989, Berol had acquired Osmiroid International and expanded its product range. They were then sold to Empire Pencil Corporation in 1987 and acquired by the Newell Company in 1995. The Berol factories in Tottenham and King's Lynn were eventually closed in 2010. Although manufacturing ceased, Berol today survives under Newell Brands and imports the products.
