A universal alternative to the standard mouse is a wired or wireless trackball mouse. The devices tend to have an ambidextrous design, meaning it is both right and left handed, via programmable buttons. One of the main advantages to using a trackball over a traditional mouse is that they are ergonomically designed and only require wrist and finger movements opposed to arm, hand and wrist movements. This type of mouse is also ideal for smaller desk spaces as you do not need to move the device itself, instead only the trackball.
